Forensic Speech & Language Analyses

FORENSIC SPEECH &

LANGUAGE ANALYSES

Forensic Speech and Language Recordings may be created in a range of settings. The various environmental/social factors involved can therefore make these recordings especially challenging.

We appreciate that organising and presenting evidence for important legal disputes can be stressful enough for you. With our forensic services, we could help you overcome these worries or complications. For improved peace-of-mind we offer:

* Transcription — for documenting utterances on a per-speaker basis. Mulitple levels of detail are available, in addition to a unique coding scheme that enables relevant forensic data to be easily located.

* Transcription-to-Video — facilitates rapid location of relevant discourse in lengthy and/or technical conversations. Excellent for when playing very poor quality forensic audio recordings in large courts, noisy rooms, etc.

* Transcription Analysis — test 'verbatim' written records with a forensic report of consistency, total error-count, and average error-count per speech-minute. Perfect for confirming the reliability of disputed evidence.

* Multilingual Translation — a service aimed to meet the challenges of transcribing conversations held in a range of languages popularly used by speakers of either African, European, South Asian or East Asian origin. These forensic transcriptions are documented on a per-speaker basis and for highly sensitive material can be confidentially coded, as required.

* Audio Cueing — the transfer of critical segments of speech onto sequentially indexed Disks/Tapes. This forensic process facilitates slick and rapid playback of important utterances without referral to masses of incoherent notes, etc. Each segment is conveniently separated by a clear verbal announcement and audible tone.

* Unwanted Noise & Hiss Removal — for enhanced perceptual quality of speech in poor quality and covert speech recordings, etc.

* Forensic Speaker Identification/Comparison — a combination of several phonetic and linguistic measures are applied to help characterise forensic speech samples and determine similarity of known and unknown speakers' voices.

* Ear-Witness Assessment — to more objectively test witnesses' memory/recollection of critical voices or speech sounds that have been heard some time (e.g., months) prior to detailed questioning.

* Speech Continuity Testing — to help verify authenticity or possible re-recording and editing of disputed words or utterances.
